It’s an immediate, attractively savory
red that will drink well young.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Clos des Mouches

The 2017 Santenay 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Rouge bursts from the glass
with scents of rose petal, minty red berries and warm spices. On the palate,
it’s medium to full-bodied, broad and satiny, with a beautifully layered midpalate, lovely purity of fruit and a long, succulent nish. This gets my nod as
the nest of Moreau’s reds in 2017.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Santenay « Cuvée S »

The 2017 Santenay « Cuvée S » is showing well, opening in the glass with
notes of cassis, licorice, dark chocolate and sweet cherry fruit. On the palate,
it’s medium to full-bodied, with more depth and concentration than the
other communal appellations this year, its powdery tannins cloaked in a
eshy core, and concluding with a long, expansive nish.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Santenay Blanc

The 2017 Santenay Blanc exhibits notes of pear, hazelnut and white owers,
followed by a medium-bodied, elegantly pure and precise palate with a
pretty core of fruit and a bright spine of acidity.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard

Firmer and more structured is the 2017 Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard, a
medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated wine that exhibits scents of
cassis and undergrowth, framed by a touch of toasty new oak. It will need a
little time to come together.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Beaurepaire

Moreau expressed reservations about the oak in which he matured his 2017
Santenay 1er Cru Beaurepaire, but to this reviewer’s palate it’s one of his
ner whites in the vintage, revealing a bouquet of crisp green orchard fruit,
pastry cream and blanched almonds, followed by a medium to full-bodied,
satiny and layered palate with good concentration and purity.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau

The 2017 Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau oers up aromas of wild berries,
cinnamon, peonies and herbs, followed by a medium-bodied, velvety palate
that’s framed by mouthwatering acids and powdery tannins. This is one of
the cuvées that sees a deftly judged proportion of whole cluster.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Santenay Les Hâtes

Aromas of licorice, red berries, anise and dried owers preface the 2017
Santenay Les Hâtes, a medium to full-bodied, eshy and avorful wine that’s
charming and succulent.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Bourgogne Aligoté

Notes of green apples, white owers and struck matches introduce the 2017
Bourgogne Aligoté, a medium-bodied, crisp and comparatively lean white
that seems to be a bit compressed after bottling, concluding with a
somewhat soapy nish.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Maranges Village

The 2017 Maranges Village, which includes some premier cru juice, bursts
with aromas of strawberries, currant leaf and bergamot. On the palate, it’s
medium to full-bodied, eshy and enveloping, with powdery structuring
tannins and a delicate, charming prole.

2017 Domaine David Moreau Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Aromas of smoky plums, dark chocolate and spices preface the 2017
Bourgogne Pinot Noir, a supple and eshy but precise wine that derives
from westerly exposing slopes—not from the heavy soils of the plain
whence many generic bottlings derive. It’s suited for near-term
consumption.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Bourgogne Pinot Noir

The 2016 Bourgogne Pinot Noir, which sees no new oak, oers subtle hints
of blue fruit on the playful nose. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly
rustic tannin, moderate depth although I found this just tapering in toward
the leafy nish.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Maranges Village

The 2016 Maranges Village is the usual blend of one village and one premier
cru. It has a very fragrant, oral bouquet with crushed violet petals infusing
the dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit. The palate is marked by chalky
tannin, crisp and focused black fruit and a lovely edginess on the nish.
What a top-notch Maranges so expect this to land at the top of its banded
score.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Beaurepaire

The 2016 Santenay 1er Cru Beaurepaire has an intense bouquet with
touches of honeycomb and nougat complementing the citrus fruit, some
nice leesy scents emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a ne
thread of acidity, hints of lemon curd and peach skin, fresh and quite crisp
on the nish that just needs more persistence on the aftertaste. It will still
give plenty of drinking pleasure over the next three or four years.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Meursault Les Pellans

The 2016 Meursault Les Pellans is located on the Puligny side so therefore it
did not suer too much frost damage. It has a vibrant bouquet with detailed
yellow plum and citrus aromas, quite fresh compared to other Meursaults
that I have tasted. The palate is fresh and taut on the entry with a ne bead
of acidity, the one-third new oak lending a slightly creamy texture toward
the passionfruit-tinged nish that lingers in the mouth. Lovely.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Clos des Mouches

The 2016 Santenay 1er Cru Clos des Mouches (Rouge) has a precise,
detailed, slightly oral bouquet with black cherries and hints of cassis, the
oak neatly entwined with the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with ne,
supple tannin and a keen line of acidity. It is fresh and taut, the most linear
of David Moreau’s wines with a slightly clipped nish. Hopefully it will just
gain a little substance in bottle.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Cote de Beaune Village

The 2016 Cote de Beaune Village was hit by frost a little since the parcels are
located toward the bottom of the slope. It has quite a vivacious red
cherry/kirsch-scented bouquet that oers good vigor. The palate is mediumbodied with ne tannin, nothing overly complex here although there is
much better fruit concentration on the nish compared to the Bourgogne
Rouge.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Santenay « Cuvée S »

The 2016 Santenay « Cuvée S » is raised in 20 to 25% new oak from vines
susceptible to millerandage. It has a ripe, candied, violet-scented bouquet
that is nicely dened, perhaps a little more elegant than previous vintages

2016 Domaine David Moreau Bourgogne Aligoté

Bottled mid-October, the 2016 Bourgogne Aligoté consists of just one 300-
liter barrel this year. It has a light and slightly buttery bouquet. The palate is
simple but balanced though it lacks a little Aligoté typicité on the innocuous
nish.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau

The 2016 Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau is matured in 35% to 40% new
oak with around 20% whole-cluster fruit. It has a gorgeous bouquet with
fresh blackberry and bilberry fruit, very well-integrated oak and engaging
harmony. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and good
density, well balanced although there is clearly some new wood to be
subsumed toward the nish. Give this three years in bottle.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard

The sophomore 2016 Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard was fermented in a
concrete vat like the 2015. It has a delightful, well-dened bouquet with
vivacious, detailed redcurrant and raspberry preserve aromas that blossom
in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ne tannin, very well-judged
acidity, fresh and tensile with a poised and quite tensile nish. This should
turn out to be one of David’s best 2016s.

2016 Domaine David Moreau Santenay Les Hâtes

The maiden 2016 Santenay Les Hâtes comes from a parcel located on the
sloped part of the vineyard up by Beaurepaire. It was previously sold to a
negoçiant. It has a vivid red cherry and bergamot-scented bouquet that has
plenty of vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with ne-grain tannin, nicely
structured on the entry but becoming more supple toward the transparent
nish. This is a ne debut although I think there is better to come.

Vinous Lire le rapport Robert Parker Wine Advocate 2017 Domaine David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Beaurepaire Rouge Aromas of ripe […]

[4

post-210","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-actualites

<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.7 -
